I will be stuck in Gatwick airport for 8 hours. What can I do with my bags while I explore London?

because of security issues, there are no lockers, but there are left luggage facilities that you can check your bag into … they charge per item so I hope you’ve only got one suitcase … look at …
8 hours may seem a long time, but by the time you’ve cleared customs & immigration, found the left luggage facility, checked your bag in, found your way to the train station and got the train to London …. plus left enough time to get back from London in time to collect your bags again for check-in for your next flight … that leaves you with not a lot of time to explore London
there is the Gatwick Express train which whisks you into Victoria station in London, and from there you can get one of the open-top bus tours which would take you round many of the sights you want to see … for example
alternatively, if all you want to see is Buckingham Palace, it’s actually just a short walk from Victoria station … go to
there is a map of the area on this page which shows you how close it is … when you exit the main concourse of Victoria station, turn left and go up to the main road which is Buckingham Palace Road, turn right onto this road and keep straight ahead and it will bring you to the side of Buckingham Palace where the Royal Mews is … follow the road round the Mews into Buckingham Gate and you will come round to front of the Palace itself … they do tours round the Palace at certain times of the year
